Plans for 2020 and Beyond: Documenting My Journey

I’ve been thinking a lot about my consulting practice lately. It’s the holiday season. Clients are on vacation. So, I’m using this time to really hone in on what I want to do in 2020 and beyond.

My main realization is that my experiences and skills are unique. I’ve been exposed to multiple industries such as media/publishing, construction, events, IT, and many more. Apart from that, within each company I’ve worked and consulted for, I had the opportunity to work with people at different levels and departments.

All these experiences have given me a unique understanding of how businesses work in actuality, not just theoretical. That means whenever I tackle something, I can look at it from multiple perspectives.

So, what does this mean for you?

Plans for 2020

1. Website update

When I started my website, I didn’t know what to do or what it will turn out to be.

Five years later, it’s starting to take shape.

I now realized what I want to focus on. And that’s now reflected on my website design.

My ultimate goal is for me to help you create more value to your customers so much so that your competition becomes irrelevant.

If you haven’t already, I created a short quiz that determines whether you are more focused on your business or on your customers.

It’s something new, so I’d love to hear your feedback as well.

2. Content Topics

I have finally settled on writing about four different topics that I’m very passionate about. Continue reading to find out more about them.

Digital Marketing

Over the past couple of years, I’ve been writing content about digital marketing. The main reason I started with that is that was my main line of work the I started out. So, I got exposed to multiple companies, industries, and best practices.

The best part is I also get to create and implement strategies for them. This means I get to test different things to find out which works and which doesn’t.

Browse the articles I published to learn how you can use digital marketing to create more value for your business.

And if you are tired of reading, I started out a project before (and will continue again this year) by creating 1-minute marketing videos. This is designed for busy individuals who want to learn new things but is tired of reading and prefer video content.

Business and Management

I also touched on a couple of business and management topics. Back when I was taking my MBA, I found that the basics of business and management aren’t taught in schools and in the workplace. That’s why I decided to share my learnings in order to educate more people.

As you already know, most business owners and entrepreneurs didn’t take business courses. And that’s okay. To succeed in business, a degree or a master’s in business isn’t a requirement.

The problem is when you see great products/services that you think should have succeeded but didn’t because the business leaders kept trying to be cool. Instead of using proven strategies and frameworks, they decided they want to learn by themselves. While there’s absolutely nothing wrong with deciding to take your own path, it’s foolish not to learn from other people’s mistakes.

Management is also a topic that is very close to my heart. As with most people, you don’t get taught management in school, even those in management courses and in MBA. All they teach you are theories and concepts that are pretty much useless in day-to-day activities. So, naturally, when I got my first management role, I struggled.

After that minor hump, I found out the best resource in the world for managers. From then on, my life changed. That’s why I decided to pursue studying and learning more about management and share them with other people.

Productivity

Finally, this wasn’t something I initially thought of writing about. But over the last couple of years, I realized that I really love technology and how it can help people be more productive

3. More content

It’s a New Year. 2020. A new decade.

It’s the perfect time for a New Year’s resolution. That’s why I’m also doing one.

Instead of a more healthy start like what most people do, I am committing to a 30-day writing challenge.

Basically, for the first 30 days of 2020, I’ll be writing and publishing content on my site around the topics I mentioned above.

So, stay tuned for that and hope you like it!

4. New services

I’ve been doing digital marketing for a decade now. I started dipping my toes into consulting/freelancing six years ago. Finally, I went full-time for the last 3.5 years.

One thing that’s common to all businesses I’ve worked and consulted for is that they need more leads, customers, and revenues.

They know which direction they are heading. They know what differentiates them from their competitors. They know what their customers want.

In other words, they already have a strategy in place. They know their competitive advantage. They know what works and what sells.

That means they just need a system that gets them more traffic, leads, and customers. There’s no need for complicated strategies for everything.

As long as the customer is at the center of all the activities, it’s simple to get results.

And that’s what I’ll be introducing next year — a simple service that helps you generate leads and customers. No fluff. No complicated strategies. No industry jargons.

I’m still finalizing everything and would probably launch this closer to mid-2020, rather than sooner. But here’s what I’m thinking:

  • Everything is done and managed for you
  • The service will be focused on creating value using content
  • No jargons, no technicalities
  • It will be a monthly subscription
  • Two-pronged approach enabling quick wins while gearing up for the future
  • Your commitment is just one hour a week

Does that sound interesting to you? Please let me know in the comments, or feel free to contact me directly so we can talk more whether this is for your business.
